The Friendship Connection
For boys and girls with social difficulties including AD/HD, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, and other Pervasive Developmental Disabilities.
The focus is to enhance social skills development within a recreational format. This group is modeled after a "social club" and is for those looking to meet friends and practice skills in a relaxed and friendly forum. These teens already have a basic understanding of social rules and need a supervised forum to apply these skills and receive feedback. Often their awareness of their own shortcomings is not where it needs to be. Through discussion, role-play and interactive games, the group will learn and practice conversational skills, nonverbal skills, and friendship skills. Particular "social or emotional problems" such as bullying, or dealing with anger, will be addressed depending on the needs of the group.
