About Me

I am a licensed mental health counselor specializing in providing individual, group, family, and marriage counseling, working with children, adolescents, and adults.  I obtained my Master of Science from C.W. Post - Long Island University, am nationally certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors, and licensed by the New York State Department of Education.

My roots are firmly planted in the special needs community, working with families and their children with different abilities or special challenges.  Clinical practice, as well as real life experience, have given me a vast base of knowledge, and a network of people to serve as resources.  As a founding member of a not-for-profit organization called SOAR, I served on the Board of Directors and helped develop programs designed to enhance the social skills of children with autism in the Half Hollow Hills School District.  I am a graduate of Partners in Policymaking, Class of 2005, a NY State Education Department sponsored training program developed to teach parents advocacy skills. It was there that I learned about the laws affecting people with disabilities, the rights of my child, and the  importance of spreading awareness, educating people, and making positive changes in our communities.

The logical outgrowth of my early experiences lead me to expand my practice to include working with all populations who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and family, maritial or relationship issues.   Working with adolescents, adults, couples and families who suffer from the everyday stresses of modern day living has been my present focus.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association, the New York Mental Health Counselors Association, the Long Island Mental Health Counselors Association, and Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism Association.  Through continued education workshops and classes, I stay current with the latest developments concerning disabilities, the law, and my profession.
